WHAT WE DO

The University of Utah has established an international reputation for expertise in combustion and gasification and its application in various industries and utilities. The efforts of the University of Utah have culminated in hundreds of successful projects for government, commercial entities and developing businesses. The focus of our research varies from the evaluation and adaptations of well-established combustion practices to the development of cutting edge combustion technologies.

Our typical approach to combustion research integrates modeling with lab- and pilot-scale testing tailored specifically to a client’s needs, which provides a level of understanding difficult to achieve elsewhere. The Industrial Combustion and Gasification Research Facility is part of the Institute for Clean and Secure Energy at the University of Utah. Our facility works on 35,000 square feet of research and office space with several different pilot-scale research systems.
